Shoen is an educator who operates a small calligraphy classroom in Orient City while working as a university guest lecturer.
A Cosman born off-world, he found himself deeply fascinated by the culture of the first Earth nation he encountered, Japan, and has since been spending his life in pursuit of perfecting his calligraphy.
A prodigious, scowling man of few words, he often gives off a fearsome impression that obscures the fact he is truly a softy who loves kids.
He even has the habit of folding origami as gifts for them whenever he meets one.
